Washington State Make It With Wool Contest
The Make It With Wool Contest has been promoting the versatility, beauty and wearability of wool since 1947! Contestants of all ages, from pre-teens through adults, sew, knit, crochet, weave or felt wool garments, which are judged on quality and presentation. New this year, Washington State will have a state contest, to be held in the fall, and no district contests.
Having just the state contest has many advantages. The winners of each category will not have to spend another day competing, as they have had to do in the past. The state contest will most likely be held near the center of our state, reducing the travel time for many participants. The contest will no longer be held in conjunction with the Washington State Sheep Producers Convention, so the fashion show and awards presentation can begin soon after the judging, rather than having to wait for the conclusion of the Sheep Producers banquet. Mini-workshops or question/answer sessions on working with wool may be held during the construction judging, and suggestions will be offered to those advancing to nationals! In addition, the cost savings will help sustain the long-term health of our Washington Make It With Wool Contest!
Won’t you join us, and Make It With Wool?! Enjoy sharing your creativity and skills, gain valuable life experiences, form wonderful friendships with people who share your appreciation of wool, and make precious memories!
