Make It With Wool is a sewing and needle arts competition, scholarship opportunity, and growth opportunity where we are inspired by the beauty and diversity of the world around us. From the vibrant colors of nature to the intricate patterns of architecture, we find inspiration everywhere. We strive to incorporate these elements into our designs, creating unique and timeless pieces that reflect our love of creativity and innovation.
The Make It With Wool Contest has been promoting the versatility, beauty and wearability of wool since 1947! Contestants of all ages, from pre-teens through adults, sew, knit, crochet, weave or felt wool garments, which are judged on quality and presentation.
Washington’s state contest will be held on Saturday, October 24th at E9 Firehouse & Gastropub in Tacoma.
Won’t you join us, and Make It With Wool?! Enjoy sharing your creativity and skills, gain valuable life experiences, form wonderful friendships with people who share your appreciation of wool, and make precious memories!
2026 Tentative Schedule for State Contest Saturday, October 24th:
11:00 am – All contestants drop off wool garments (only the wool garments to be judged; on hangers and remove the garment bags) at E9 Firehouse & Gastropub, 611 N Pine St, Tacoma, WA 98406, Upstairs
11:00-2:00 pm – Construction judging. Judges will be breaking for lunch at 12 noon.
11:15-12 noon – Workshop
12 noon to 2 pm – Lunch on your own.
2 pm – Pick up wool garments; be dressed by 2:30 pm for Presentation/Modeling Judging.
2:30-4:00 pm – Presentation/Modeling Judging. Bring your best smile!
4:30 pm – Fashion Show and Awards ***Public Welcome to attend***
